Harvested at opposite ends of harvest, large, thin-skinned Syrah and Tempranillo berries were full of sugar, low in acid, early September. Tiny, thick skinned Touriga berries handled late heat and maintained acid. Cold soaked to bring out color, all were inoculated to complement the ripe, spicy fruit and mouthfeel, pressed into re-toasted and neutral French oak barrels, and undisturbed for 22 months.
PROFILE: Rich, dark ruby and mauve swirl to raisin core. Toasted caramel and vanilla complement blackberry liqueur, hints of violet and mineral streak. Soft, plump, yet refined; a wonderful dance between toasty barrel and opulent fruit weight.
